Alexandra Winter and Niklas Schnelle will demystify the S390 for us.

To some(including yours truly), the s390 is probably the most mysterious Linux architecture. As someone who has been around this neighborhood for a while, the most sticky knowledge i have of the s390 is it was doing virtualization way before virtualization was cool and existed in open source!

Alexandra and Niklas say thatin many ways the s390 is just another processor architecture but it is indeed speacial when it comes to I/O and networking.

The authors will break down for us the multiple levels of Hipervisors and IO-virtualization. About sharing resources with non-Linux systems. About network cards that are not attached via PCI. About network interfaces that are implemented in Hardware, Firmware or Hypervisor software and protocols that serve special purposes or predate ethernet.

This talk will be an eye opener - i hope you are all looking forward to it as i do!
